Biography
A summer baby birthed in the bustle of Manhattan on 13 August 1887, Nellie Slattery stepped from tenement shadows onto flickering nickelodeon screens. Between 1916 and 1917 she shape-shifted for three one-reel adventures: she stirred comic mayhem in *The Mischief Maker*, plumbed oceanic intrigue in *The Submarine Eye*, and traded glances with crown princes in *A Royal Romance*. The camera lights dimmed quickly; on 21 December 1942 she slipped away in the same city that first watched her glow.
