Biography
Hailing from the Scottish town of Maxwelltown, where he was born on February 10, 1870, Norman McKinnel carved out a distinguished legacy as both a screen presence and a man of letters. His career was inextricably linked to the drama Hindle Wakes, appearing in both the 1918 and 1931 cinematic adaptations, as well as the 1927 feature Fanny Hawthorne. Off-screen, he shared his life with his wife, Gertrude Scott. The curtain finally fell on McKinnel’s life in Bloomsbury, London, on March 29, 1932.
