Biography
Born on a brisk spring morning in Herfølge—8 March 1881—Oluf Billesborg grew into one of Denmark’s earliest screen presences, his face flickering to life in the nickelodeon darkness. Within two whirlwind years he slipped behind the eyes of tormented heirs and hunted innocents: first as the driven industrialist in *The Steel King's Last Wish* (1913), then the fugitive fighting clear of false charges in *Unjustly Accused* that same year, and finally unlocking the enigma at the heart of *Vasens Hemmelighed* in 1914. Off-camera he shared his life with Ellen, the woman who became his wife. Six decades and a fortnight after his first cry on Zealand soil, he closed his final scene on 23 March 1944.
