Biography
Montevideo greeted her first breath on 5 April 1874, and by the time silent film began to flicker across South-American screens, Orfilia Rico had already stepped into its glow. In 1915 she rode the pampa winds in Nobleza gaucha; the following year she returned from the grave for Hasta después de muerta, sealing her place among the continent’s earliest cinematic ghosts. Fate’s final curtain fell in Buenos Aires on 10 October 1936, but those two surviving reels still keep her moving through time.
