Oscar Araújo Costa stepped before the camera three times and left three distinct footprints in Brazilian cinema: the 1914 wetlands thriller O Crime dos Banhados, and, in a prolific 1938, both the sparkling social comedy Maridinho de Luxo and the sweeping essay-film Alma e Corpo de uma Raça.
