Biography
Copenhagen greeted Oscar Nielsen on 21 August 1858, and the city’s stages soon claimed him. Between 1915 and 1917 he slipped into three early screen worlds—Kærlighedens Firkløver’s tangled hearts, the shadowy corridors of Mysteriet Blackville, and the switchboard buzz of Telefondamen—becoming a familiar face of Denmark’s silent era. Off-camera he shared his life with Christine Petrine Lovise Nielsen, his steadfast partner. He exited the scene on 7 February 1926, leaving the reels to keep his memory flickering.
