Biography
Paul McAllister first drew breath on 30 June 1875 amid the clamor of Brooklyn, New York, and spent the next eight decades turning that city’s restless energy into performances on stage and screen. Between 1926 and 1928 he slipped into three of early Hollywood’s most spectacular sandstorms: he marched across the Sahara in *Beau Geste*, battled the Colorado River for *The Winning of Barbara Worth*, and survived the biblical deluge of *Noah’s Ark*. Off-camera he shaped scripts with the same keen eye, and off-set he shared his life with actress Margaret McKinney. The final curtain fell on 8 July 1955 in Santa Monica, California, where the Pacific hushed the city noise he first heard 3,000 miles and a lifetime away.
