Biography
Toronto greeted Percy Winter on 16 November 1861, and from that Canadian starting line he sprinted onto the early-twentieth-century American screen. Between the clatter of hand-cranked cameras in 1915, he both acted in and steered three one-reel sensations—The Other Girl, The Inevitable Penalty, and The Son—shaping their stories with the same steady hand he offered two leading ladies, actress Mary N. Saunders and later Blanche Armand. Fifty-six winters later, on 4 May 1928, his final curtain fell in Boonton, New Jersey, closing a life lived in flickering black-and-white.
