Biography
June 11, 1888, Merton, Surrey—Phyllis Relph drew her first breath on that summer day, and the stage soon beckoned. She stepped before the cameras for Lights of London in 1914, then, four decades later, enlivened Shaw’s witty dialogue in the 1954 screen revival of Pygmalion. Off-screen, she shared her life with fellow actor Lionel Atwill. Her final curtain fell on 12 May 1969 in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, leaving behind the flicker of two film eras.
