Biography
R.A. Bresee stepped onto the world’s stage in 1851 and, more than six decades later, stepped before the camera, lending a weathered gravitas to the silent flickers of the mid-1910s. Between 1915 and 1916 he appeared in three brisk one-reel sensations: the redemption tale *Emmy of Stork’s Nest*, the swaggering crime yarn *Notorious Gallagher; or, His Great Triumph*, and the fate-driven melodrama *The Child of Destiny*. His final curtain fell in February 1918, in Brooklyn, New York, where the Brooklyn streets he once strode as an actor became his last set.
