Before the world learned to talk on-screen, Rea Martin was already speaking in glances. She stepped in front of the camera in 1914 as Gwendolyn, the tireless heroine of Gwendolyn, the Sewing Machine Girl, then slipped into 1915 with two more one-reel stories: the flirtatious whirl of The Coquette and the heart-tugging tug of His Poor Little Girl.
