Biography
Bordeaux, 9 October 1876: a restless girl named Régina Badet first opened her eyes to the Garonne quays; seventy-three years later she closed them in the same city, having redrawn the boundaries of early French cinema. Between those two autumns she stepped before the camera for three short, incandescent appearances: the mythic homecoming of The Return of Ulysses in 1909, the knife-twist drama Vendetta five years later, and the desert reverie Sadounah in 1915. Each role was a spark that helped ignite the screen’s first great blaze.
