Biography
Born in Ireland in 1850, Richard Purdon sailed into silent-era cinema just as the cameras began to roll, lending his presence to When Appearances Deceive and The Ventures of Marguerite in 1915 and, a year later, to Almost a Heroine. He died in Manhattan on 11 October 1916, closing the curtain on a career that spanned the birth of film itself.
