Biography
On 20 October 1872, a future stage-and-screen presence first drew breath in St. Mary Camberwell, Surrey. Though celluloid would remember him chiefly for the 1915 silent thriller *Evidence*, Temple’s real life played out across two marriages—first to actress Kathryn Miley, later to music-hall star Edith Elizabeth Greene, better known as Evie Greene. The curtain fell for the last time on 14 October 1954, in New York City, far from his English birthplace but still within the spotlight’s reach.
