Biography
A midsummer baby of 1858, Robert Dunbar first drew breath in the brick-and-steel river town of Beaver, Pennsylvania. By the time flickering nickelodeons were hypnotizing the nation, he had stepped before the camera, lending his craggy presence to The Third Degree in 1913. Seven years later, when jazz was still hot and headlines still fresh, he returned to the screen twice: once as the wily Jimmy Valentine and again chasing fortune in The Best of Luck. The final curtain fell on 16 January 1943, three thousand miles west of his birthplace, under the steady sun of Los Angeles, California.
