Biography
A daughter of the Rockies, Rose Gibbons first drew breath on 10 November 1880 amid Colorado’s snow-dusted peaks. Within months of the camera’s newfound love for storytelling, she stepped before it, lending her presence to three one-reel sensations of 1914: the biblical thunder of Samson, the espionage twists of Sealed Orders, and the deceit-ridden drama of The Man Who Lied. After that swift, bright burst of silent-film fame, she slipped from the marquee lights and lived out her years in California sunshine, dying quietly in Oakland on 13 August 1964.
