Biography
Hailing from Salem, Massachusetts, where she was born on June 30, 1881, Rose Tapley initially honed her craft on the theatrical stage. Her transition to the silver screen arrived in 1912 when she stepped into the regal role of Queen Victoria for the film The Victoria Cross. Although thirty-one was often considered a late start for the era's leading ladies, Tapley’s seasoned expertise proved invaluable, securing her place in the industry. That debut year alone saw her appear in forty additional productions, marking the beginning of a prolific cinematic journey. Two decades later, in 1931, she portrayed Princess Sophya in Resurrection at the age of fifty. Her long life eventually came to a close on February 23, 1956, in Woodland Hills, California, when she was seventy-five years old.
