Biography
Rosie Dolly first drew breath on 25 October 1892 amid the gas-lit boulevards of Budapest, then still Austria-Hungary. Alongside her sister Jenny, she twirled from circus rings to Broadway marquees, turning synchronized steps into global fascination. Cameras caught her in the serial whirlwind Our Mutual Girl (1914), the wartime romance The Lily and the Rose (1915), and the fizzy comedic showcase The Million Dollar Dollies (1918), each role sealing her reputation as the petite half of the world’s most glamorous twin act. Off-screen, her heart marched down three aisles: first with Tin Pan Alley composer Jean Schwartz, then textile heir Irving Netcher, and finally Canadian tobacco magnate Mortimer Barnett Davis Jr. After decades of spotlight and silk, she slipped away quietly on 1 February 1970 in New York City, leaving behind the echo of champagne toasts and the ghost of a pirouette.
