Biography
Comber, Ontario, welcomed Roy Laidlaw on 25 March 1883, and from that quiet farm-country start he built a screen life that flickered from the one-reel curiosity The Relic (1914) to the gilt-edged super-production The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1923) and the breezy comedy Is That Nice? (1926). Thirty-five years after his first breath, he took his last in Los Angeles on 2 February 1936, leaving behind the silhouette of a journeyman who had watched the movies grow up around him.
