Biography
Ruth Lackaye first drew breath in 1869 amid the fir-lined bluffs of Oregon City, Oregon. Within a few fast-moving decades she had stepped before the camera to embody the sharp-witted title character of *The Girl Angle* (1917), to charm audiences as the plucky heroine of *The Midnight Burglar* (1918), and to return in 1919 as the irrepressible namesake of *Muggsy*.
