Biography
Born in Paddington on 8 August 1862, Saba Raleigh first drew breath amid the clang of London’s hansom cabs and gas-lit theatres. By her early fifties she had stepped before the cameras, lending her regal composure to The Clemenceau Case (1915), stealing hearts in Nobody’s Child (1919), and embodying the romantic spirit of The Life of Lord Byron (1922). Off-screen she shared her life—and surname—with playwright Cecil Raleigh. After six decades of curtain calls, both stage and screen, she took her final bow in Bloomsbury on 22 August 1923.
