Biography
February 25, 1880, cracked open a winter dawn in Manhattan and delivered Sherman Bainbridge to the city’s restless streets. By day he shaped words on paper; by flickering gaslight he traded them for greasepaint, slipping into silent-reel adventures that hurtled audiences from tiger-stalked jungles in *The Raid of the Human Tigers* (1913) to coral reefs shimmering in *Coral* (1915) and the triumph of a determined heroine in *The Girl Who Won Out* (1917). The final curtain fell on January 14, 1950, in sun-washed Los Angeles, closing a life bookended by America’s two loudest coasts.
