Biography
A summer-heat baby—August 12, 1889—Sid Jordan drew his first breath in Muskogee while the land around him was still tagged “Indian Territory.” By the Roaring Twenties he had traded prairie dust for klieg lights, carving a screen presence rugged enough to match the titles he fronted: the bruised frontier of Trooper O’Neill (1922), the unvarnished grit of Men in the Raw (1923), and the saddle-bound adventure of The Ridin’ Kid from Powder River (1924). Forty-seven autumns later, on September 30, 1970, the lights dimmed for good in Hemet, California, closing the curtain on a man whose cowboy silhouette once galloped across silent-film dreams.
