Biography
A prairie wind carried Stuart Sage into the world in 1893 Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and by the time the movies learned to talk, he had already slipped away. Between 1916 and 1923 he flickered across nickelodeon screens—first cloaked in the wartime melodrama of The War Bride’s Secret, then two-stepping through the slapstick chaos of Trouble Makers, and finally crossing swords in The Fighting Blade. Off-camera, he claimed Broadway’s Edna Hibbard as his wife. On 4 March 1926 the lights dimmed for good in New York City, leaving only the bright ghosts of his reels to keep speaking for him.
