Biography
August of 1870 saw Sue Balfour’s first entrance—New Jersey, USA—long before the footlights of cinema would call her name. By 1917 she had stepped before the cameras, breathing life into *The Great Secret*, followed swiftly by the tempestuous preacher of *Cyclone Higgins, D.D.* (1918) and the unbreakable spouse in *The Indestructible Wife* (1919). Off-screen she shared her surname with husband Augustus Balfour. Her final curtain fell on 20 February 1937, Manhattan drawing the lights down on a life first lived in New Jersey and forever preserved on celluloid.
