Biography
A winter-born daughter of Le Havre, Suzanne Le Bret first drew breath on 28 February 1889, in the bustling coastal département then called Seine-Inférieure. Within a handful of years she stepped before the camera, animating silent shadows in Léonce à la campagne and the shellfish-laced comedy Léonce et les écrevisses, both released in 1913. Two seasons later she slipped into the dark allure of Les Vampires (1915), sealing her place in early French cinema. Paris’s 19th arrondissement became her final stage when she died there on 7 November 1928.
