Biography
A Sheffield spring morning—9 May 1884—delivered Ted Edwards into the smoke and clang of Yorkshire’s steel city. By the flicker of silent-film arc lights he carved out a living face: the wild-eyed doctor in Maniac (1934), the battle-scarred veteran of Fires of Youth (1924), the scandal-wrangled husband in Polygamy (1936). Forty-one years after his first breath, Los Angeles claimed his last; Edwards exhaled for good on 29 September 1945 beneath a sun far removed from Sheffield’s grey forge.
