Biography
Turin, 1914: a twenty-year-old Teresa Marangoni stepped in front of Giovanni Pastrone’s camera and, as the captive Croessa in Cabiria, helped ignite the epic scale of Italian silent cinema. Three whirlwind years later she was flexing comic timing opposite Bartolomeo Pagano in Marvelous Maciste, then re-appeared in 1921 as the spirited lead of Il pezzente gentiluomo. Though her filmography numbers only these three titles, each appearance—1914, 1915, 1921—left a distinct footprint across the decade that shaped the nation’s early screen mythology.
