Biography
On 12 April 1881, Teresa Michelena entered the world, and the stage soon followed. Within three whirlwind years she slipped into the new glow of the silver screen, animating Life’s Shop Window and Uncle Tom’s Cabin both in 1914, then resurfaced in 1917 as the face of Captain Jinks’ Cure. Off-camera she traded lines of dialogue for lines of prose, publishing stories that carried her wit beyond the footlights. Walter Hitchcock won her heart and her hand in marriage. Six decades after her final curtain call, she closed her eyes for good in Massachusetts, January 1963.
