Biography
Louisville, Kentucky, greeted Thais Lawton’s first cry on 18 June 1879, and by 1915 she was commanding the silent screen—first as the terrified civilian caught in The Battle Cry of Peace, then as the haunted soul seeking redemption in The Pardon. Off-camera she shared her life with fellow performer Percy McDermott. Six decades after her silver-screen debut, New York City closed her final act on 18 December 1956.
