Biography
Before the world had heard of method acting or CGI, Thomas H. MacDonald was already carving silent stories onto flickering nitrate. In 1914 he stepped into the soot-streaked melodrama of *An Angel of the Slums*, followed hot-foot by a double punch in 1915: the cautionary parable *Do Unto Others* and the battle-scarred saga *The Eternal Strife*. Three films, three years—each a brittle, surviving shard of cinema’s infancy, each carrying MacDonald’s face and name into the dark of nickelodeons that have long since gone dark themselves.
