Biography
Before the world tilted into the First World War, Tonino Giolino was already flickering across Italian screens. In 1913 he brandished a sabre in *For King and Country*, then measured justice with the same steady gaze in *Le leggi dell'onore*. The following year he swapped uniform for soot-blackened clothes, climbing among the snow-dusted roofs of the Alps in *The Chimney Sweeps of the Valley of Aosta* (1914). Three films, three swift seasons, and Giolino’s footprints were set in the fresh cement of a newborn cinema.
