Biography
Fresno, California, greeted Virginia Ainsworth on 9 March 1894, and the bright lights of silent cinema soon beckoned her west. Between flickering title cards she carved a niche: arrow-sleuthing in 1921’s The Avenging Arrow, outrunning a scarlet-clad speedster in 1925’s The Scarlet Streak, and unpacking small-town second thoughts in 1926’s Why Girls Go Back Home. Six decades later, on 27 October 1969, the curtain fell for the final time in San Francisco, the same state that had watched her first act begin.
