Biography
Cleveland, Ohio, 21 March 1869: Vivia Ogden enters the world, and the stage soon beckons. Over the next half-century she slips into countless skins, but three performances still flicker on the silver sheet—Mrs. Wiggs of the Cabbage Patch (1919), D. W. Griffith’s tempest-tossed Way Down East (1920), and the mischievous orphan tale Lovey Mary (1926). When the final curtain falls, she is in Los Angeles, California, where she dies on 22 December 1952, leaving the camera lights dimmed behind her.
