Long before the term “character actor” existed, W.A. Orlemond slipped into the Australian spotlight by way of a single, now-lost film: The Pit, released in 1914. In that single performance, captured on brittle nitrate, he became one of the earliest faces to flash across the nation’s movie screens, a fleeting pioneer of Australian cinema.
