Biography
Born beneath the pines of Lyon, New York, on 25 April 1859, Walt Whitman grew into a silver-screen swordsman who slashed his way through two separate filmings of The Three Musketeers—first in 1916 and again in 1921—then left his signature “Z” across 1920’s The Mark of Zorro. Off-camera he shared his life with actress Miriam Shelby until the final curtain fell in Santa Monica, California, on 27 March 1928.
