Biography
Asti, Piedmont, greeted the New Year of 1889 by welcoming Wanda Capodaglio into the world on January first. The stage and, later, the screen became her kingdom: she breathed life into David Copperfield’s 1965 retelling, haunted the halls of Jane Eyre in 1957, and walked among the Chronicle of Poor Lovers in 1954. Off-camera, she shared her life with husband Pio Campa. More than nine decades later, on 30 August 1980, her journey closed in the quiet Tuscan town of Castelfranco di Sopra.
