Biography
Hailing from the English village of Rawcliffe, Wellington A. Playter entered the world on December 9, 1879, eventually becoming a prominent fixture of the silent film era as both a performer and a director. He is celebrated for his roles in the 1914 production of The County Chairman and his 1919 contributions to The Wicked Darling and the rugged adventure Back to God's Country. After a life dedicated to the evolving art of cinema, Playter passed away in Oakland, California, on July 15, 1937.
