Biography
A Christmas–eve baby, Wilda Bennett drew her first breath in Asbury Park, 1894, and by twenty she was already flickering across the nickelodeon screen as the mischievous lead of *A Good Little Devil*. Between that 1914 splash and her nostalgic swan-song in *Those Were the Days!* (1940), she slipped into the Jazz-Age comedy *Love, Honor and Obey*—three roles that still cue applause from silent-film archivists. Off-screen she collected surnames the way others collected postcards: first the mining engineer Munro Whitmore, then riding-master Anthony J. Wettach, dancer Pepe de Albrew, and finally actor Robert Schable. The last curtain fell on 20 December 1967 in the high-desert quiet of Winnemucca, Nevada—one day after her seventy-third birthday.
