Biography
William A. Morse arrived in 1887, stepped into the flicker of early Hollywood, and left three lightning-fast footprints on celluloid in a single year: the mill-worker’s lament *The Song of the Wage Slave*, the flag-waving romance *Barbara Frietchie*, and the shadow-laden chiller *Vampire*—all 1915, all silent, all still whispering his name. Twenty-one Septembers later, the lights went out for good in New York City, 1918.
