Biography
A summer baby of 1870, William A. Williams first drew breath in Manheim, New York, long before the cameras began to roll. When silent film finally beckoned, he stepped into its flickering glow—memorably tangled with fate in *Silks and Satins* (1916), struck emotional pay-dirt in *Heart of Gold* (1919), and survived marital fireworks in *The Indestructible Wife* (also 1919). Off-screen, he pledged his own heart to Daphne Darwin. Forty-eight years after leaving rural New York, he closed his final act in Los Angeles, California, on 4 May 1942.
