Biography
A prairie wind carried William Brunton into the world on 13 March 1883 somewhere in Canada, and by his early thirties that same restless energy had steered him into flickering nickelodeons and California sun. In front of the camera he dodged posses in Fast Freight 3205 (1914), tipped his hat as the gentleman bushranger of Stingaree (1915), and traded six-shooter wisdom in The Squaw Man (1918); behind it he called the shots as director. Off-set he claimed the hand of Louella Maxam, and the couple rode out the decades together until Los Angeles claimed him on 19 February 1965.
