Biography
Before talkies took over, William Elie slipped into silent shadows three times: first as the haunted double of Georges Rodenbach’s Bruges in Dans Bruges-la-morte (1924), then as the streetwise kid threading Brussels’ alleys in Un gamin de Bruxelles (1925), and finally crossing blades with the spirit of California’s masked fox in In the Way of Zorro (1926).
