Biography
Macon, Georgia, 1867: William Jossey drew his first breath in the same red-clay town that would claim his last seventy years later. Between those bookends he learned two trades—stepping before the camera as an actor and calling the shots behind it—leaving flickering footprints in two early one-reel landmarks: the melodrama *St. Elmo* (1914) and the rough-riding western *The Cowpuncher* (1915). On 25 June 1937 the projectors stopped for good; Jossey returned to Macon soil, his story folded into the same Southern dusk where it began.
