Biography
London welcomed William Tedmarsh on 3 February 1876, and before the city loosed its grip on him he had already traded its fog for the flicker of early film. Between 1912 and 1916 he slipped into three very different skins: the manor-born leading man of *The Girl of the Manor*, the desperate soul trapped in *Life's Blind Alley*, and the adventurer chasing *The Secret of the Submarine*. The cameras stopped rolling for him on 10 May 1937, but the frames he left behind still move.
