Biography
Wright Kramer first drew breath on 19 May 1870 amid the clatter of Somerville, Massachusetts, and spent the next seven decades turning that voice into a silver-screen calling card. His silhouette flickered across three very different eras of cinema: the one-reel morality tale *John Glayde’s Honor* in 1915, followed a quarter-century later by the Boris Karloff chiller *Before I Hang* and the exotic whodunit *Dark Streets of Cairo*, both released in the feverish movie year of 1940. Off-camera, he shared his life with actress Marion Power, their marriage a quiet counter-melody to the glare of klieg lights. The final curtain fell on 14 November 1941 in Los Angeles, California, closing a life that had traveled from New England cobblestones to Hollywood boulevards.
