Biography
On 17 November 1875, New York City handed the world Yale Benner—stage-sharp, camera-ready. By 1912 he was already racing through cliff-hanging episodes as the hero of What Happened to Mary, cinema’s first serial thriller. Three years later he slipped into Becky Sharp’s glittering, back-stabbing world for Vanity Fair (1915), trading period frock coats for spiritualist tweeds opposite Harry Houdini in The Man from Beyond (1922). When the final curtain fell, he had traded coasts, breathing his last on 29 September 1952 in sun-washed San Diego, California.
