Biography
A Pacific-coast baby born the same summer Spain lost its last colony, Yvette Mitchell blinked into the San Francisco sun on 10 July 1898. By nineteen she had migrated from living-room skits to flickering title cards, lending her spark to The Red Ace and The Reward of the Faithless in 1917 and later trading slapstick dust for backwoods antics in 1921’s KingFisher’s Roost. Off-screen she swapped vows with jazz-loving bon vivant Poley McClintock. Eighty-eight adventurous circles around the sun carried her from California lights to Pennsylvania snow, where she drew her final breath in East Stroudsburg on 26 December 1986.
