Biography
Abraham S. Schomer arrived in the world on 2 August 1876 in Pinsk—then a dusty outpost of the Russian Empire, now part of Belarus. From that distant starting line he sprinted into silent-era Hollywood, scripting and steering stories that flickered across nickelodeon screens: Ruling Passions set tongues wagging in 1918, and 1920 delivered a one-two punch with The Chamber Mystery and The Hidden Light. Four decades after leaving Pinsk, he took his final bow in sun-soaked Los Angeles on 16 August 1946.
