Biography

Born in Copenhagen on 27 June 1880, Agnete von Prangen first stepped into the limelight as an actress, then sharpened her pen as a screenwriter when Danish silent cinema was still inventing itself. Between 1916 and 1919 she lent her voice—without uttering a word—to three of the era’s most talked-about films: the fiery melodrama *Syndens datter*, the heart-tugging *For barnets skyld*, and the sly satire *Konkurrencen*. Off-screen, she shared her life—and the dawn of Danish film—with director August Blom. She exited the world’s stage on 12 April 1968, leaving behind flickering images and crisp intertitles that still whisper her name.
